One Yukkuri Place

A Nicehead Tag

Posted under General

Because we mostly seem to believe shitheads exist, I have to wonder if we should start tagging niceheads too.

By niceheads, I'm referring to the generally decent and well-behaved yukkuri that can be pets, stray, etc.

Would this work as a definition or are niceheads something different?

I don't think "generally decent" is descriptive enough. I only say this because there's hundreds if not thousands of yukkuri oneshot pictures that don't have the yukkuri doing anything other than being in the picture. They could very well be shitheads giving a nice smile. Or they could be "scum with potential". We just don't know from the pic, but they do look "decent".

I think just as how a shithead is a pretty exceptionally arrogant and bad attitude yukkuri, a nicehead would be a polar opposite. Not just yukkuri innocence/stupidity but having "admirable" traits. It's a little hard since yukkuri aren't often "pure" but a classic nicehead that pops into my mind is Big Sister Marisa from Yukkurarium Family. To me a nicehead just doesn't claim that they want the best for others, they go out and do something about it. Or are willing to suffer the hardships.

I wouldn't mind seeing the tag used as long as some kind of consistency and relevancy can be maintained.

Indeed, if we are going to use a nicehead tag, we should do like with the shithead tag and only use it when the proofs are good enough about the yukkuri's worth, after all, "smiling and prancing" doesn't assure a nicehead, even scum does that, and a FF pic doesn't usually work with the same terms and yukkuris there are just "cute looking yukkuris". Basically how can you be proven good if you don't show it outside of a nice smile? it's not like bad people or horrible human monsters can't be smiling cheerfully before or while doing their wicked deeds.

So if we are using nicehead tag, we have to do so in works on which the niceheadness is blatlantly proven.

One of the purpose of pools is to put more subjective and abstract interpretations of posts into a group instead of creating new tags. Why don't you make a pool instead of tag?

alright so nicehead are only in the case of really good yukkuri; e.g. they commit admirable acts.

Shitheads at least are agreed by the whole community to be one thing, so I'm not sure if I could consider that subjective.

As for pools having a subjective/abstract interpretation, I feel like that purpose is to the detriment of the overall tag system; it would be nice if when searching for a word, the platform would suggest to look into pools for the word. Alternatively there could be "subjective" tags, which could be optional tags which are only included if the user specifies.

Just for reference, you can search through pools with words by typing pool:pool_name into the search bar.

Pool or tag, I think either could be appropriate. Nicehead is a bit more subjective than shithead, but I think it could be "ironed out" enough as a term to be a tag. But a pool can be fine too, so either or.

Regardless, we might want to start finding examples. Even if we tag or pool, we'd need to fill said tag or pool. Plus having examples helps with what we're defining the term to mean.

I'd say "niceheads" are only really applicable with high gold to platinum levels because "nicehead" isn't just yukkuris being cute. They need to be associated with "nice" activities which are not as distinctive as "shitty slave blah blah", which can be identifiable in one single sentence.

That being said, I think the pool's a good suggestion because its more subjective like others have said.

A nicehead tag implies that the majority yukkuri are not niceheads at all. The reason why the shithead tag exists is to highlight that these are the extreme examples of thrash yukkuri.

Hmm dunno how that contradicts the situation, after all nicehead isn't a term only for "good" yukkuri but the "nicest" ones, basically if shithead is the worst trash yukkuri, nicehead is the best good yukkuri.

shithead is a tag but nicehead is a pool, since the former has "hard" proof and the latter does not.

alright, that makes sense. I'll make a pool and start adding then.

another issue though; is the cute tag subjective? it quite looks like it doing a brief tag search, not to mention there are tons of recent cute pictures it hasn't included, I think.

cute is definitely very subjective. We have kind of veered away from it as of late, because what's cute to one person is not necessarily cute to another. I personally think cute is better off in a pool as well, but its just fairly entrenched.

it does look like a lot of work to fix.

I made the shithead article, though I have doubts about its quality.

Random suggestion; What if when you searched or a tag/in the listing of tags in the left sidebar of every piece of art, there was a small button which would take you to the wiki page for such tag? that would help end users understand the reasons for tagging/what the specific tag means.

But there is, it's the question mark to the left of the tag.

right you are; I can't believe I didn't notice that before, thanks.

I don't think there's anything wrong with 'cute' existing as a tag. If it was a pool, we wouldn't be able to search it for the things we want.

As I recall, somebody actually /did/ make a nicehead tag. It was on True Happiness and other similar stories. I think. It was a while ago so I can't remember for sure.

You can search in pools by typing in the search bar pool:pool_name where pool_name is the name of the pool

A Nicehead pool is fine.

I was about to agree wholeheartedly at first to making the cute pool, but we already have one, called Disgustingly Adorable: pool #448

(Edited: corrected pool. pool #488 is the now-dead OYP relay comic.)

I noticed that. If I ever get around to cleaning up the cute tag, the really cute ones I'll place in there.

What do you mean by "cleaning up the cute tag"? You mean, you're going to remove the tag from posts based on your personal opinion of what constitutes cuteness? Because, unlike other tags, it's impossible to have a widely agreed upon idea of what is cute, which means that no one can act as the arbiter and remove this tag.

I just had a look through the "cute" tag and there's nothing there I could remove without being very unfair to other users, with the exception of the MS Paint naruto picture by our newest troll.

If you want to keep only pictures you find cute, then make a private pool where adding and removing pictures will be at your sole discretion.

no, please don't use private pools for that, that's what favorites are for.
