Well , realistically speaking: no. The 'Katharsis' theory - that acting on your bad feelings is sort of like 'blowing off steam' from a kettle - has been completely disproven by moder neuropsychology. The human brain simply doesn't work that way. In fact , the opposite is true: The more succumb to such emotions , the easier it becomes for you to 'slip'. That's why the idea "Yukkuri cause world peace" because everyone kicks them around instead of their fellow men is complete BS. Interestingly , this is precisely what is what muramaal criticises in another story: post #26172
I think you are misinterpreting my "highly and forceful repression won't necessarily fix the problem." with proposing to "kick manjuus" for katharsis. Plus whoever thinks that kicking manjuus would bring world peace deserves to be laughed at, though i do wonder if someone ever really considered that, since the closest thing was that story you mentioned and it was mainly some sort of "feint tactic" for preventing bulliying in school, yet i also thought it was pretty pathetic and pointless.
It was also proven that repressing negative aspects in forceful ways, instead of solving them, leads to a bad psyche build up that many times explodes at some moment. So it's better to solve the problem. Specially in cases were the forceful repression do show negative side effects like here, with the guy looking like his brain from time to time "switch off".
It is rarely said explicitly , but often implied , especially in written stories. And yes , telling someone to stop being violent won't automatically fix whatever might be causing these outbursts. However , that doesn't lead to the conclusion that the inverse must be true: That allowing such behavior will in any way contain or alleviate the underlying problem. Encouraging emotional control is never bad ; encouraging to ignore your problems is never good , though. But anyway , this therapy sucks either way , because this is like treating a alcoholic by leaving them alone with a fully stocked bar of alcoholic beverages and telling them "just don't drink". It's almost worse then the "shock exposure" therapy you see so often in media.
I always thought that in written stories the point was more about yukkuris fucking shit up badly and people getting at them for that, nothing of better world, more peaceful world, etc. out of abusing them.
As much humans wipe them out because of how their yukkuri ways may impact negatively the enviroment and such.
But i think there was only 1 story on which something like that was stated, and it was a comedic parody, as in "things are better at the expenses of the silly manjuus" and it was a mixture of good yukkuris helping the elderly, shitheads being tortured and used as stress reliever, yukkuris being used to make waste into bean paste, etc.
Someone clearly hasn't read "yukkuris saved the world". Also, please stop campaigning about how people are hypocritical for disliking things yukkuris do because a very few humans do similar things, and that liking abuse will make you a bad person.
>>the idea "Yukkuri cause world peace" because everyone kicks them around instead of their fellow men is complete BS.
I know. There's murderers wherever you go... people ending the lives of virtual people. Sick. Playing violent video games makes you a murderer in waiting. We should lock them all up and shoot them, now. Because if they're killing virtual people, soon they'll move onto real people. Right?
Tea if for "someone clearly hasn't read "yukkuris saved the world" " you mean me, i kinda mentioned it in my previous comment, "the story that makes things better in the world at the expenses of the manjuus" ?
yeah but since i also think that socially encourage abuse on manjuus, in a yukkuri world of course, will not bring world peace i thought you meant me at the beginning. then i read the quote and follow up as you talking to FSB.
Issue of yukkuris saving the world hasn't really been explored, seeing as the tendency in them is just to abuse them or wipe them out (although if everyone's busy wiping out yukkuris they might not wipe out each other. Like episode 12 of Kino's journey {idea reserved derp}). Yukkuris saved the world was quite a parody, but it was good food for thought. They wouldn't completely save the world (nobody even said that here); but they have the potential to create a lot of changes for the better. Although not world peace, they can very much bring about personal peace. The ultimate stress reliever, and even looking at and reading these fantastic series puts me quite at peace and makes me calmer. They're entertaining, blow off steam and great stressballs. Writing is even greater. Like it or not, believe it or not, a lot of my buddies say I've been a lot calmer, mostly after finishing a good bit of writing or reading an abuse series.
JusticeItEasy said: You know what is the saddest thing? it may make it way worse for his psyche to forcefully repress his disgust like this.
He could snap in a future and all the therapy would be for nothing. We saw what happened with the doctor later, so it may not be that farfetch'd.
not true, 90% of anger is supressed, my guess is that his abuse habit got out of control and he attacked someones pet so the authorities became fearful of the childs safty and he was put into a fostur home until he was deemed safe enough to be around his child again
