I AM old enough to get a National Socialist Concentration Camp analogue with this story. Being the grandson of a POW in WWII and actually listening to the accounts of his fellow servicemen, does it no better either. I am bailing out at this point in the narrative as I can 'join the dots' all too well. Too distressing for me.
This is a part of the "Factory" that appears in so many stories. How is this one different from any other that makes you have to say something like that?
I think you're tripping here, old buddy. What in the world does a yukkuri getting tortured and grinded up for food have to do with being a prisoner of war or concentration camps? Did the movie Soylent Green make you jump out of your pants too?
There were a lot of previous stories here that, however weak, had a better relation to concentration camps than this one.
Tricking somebody into walking into an execution chamber by telling them that they're dirty and need to get washed up draws a parallel by itself, whether you like it or not. Watching them figure it out and futilely try to escape only adds icing to the cake.
Then again, they're manjuus, so it doesn't matter.
Whether you like it or not, there's rules here. I'm pretty sure saying that basically, we all approve of nazis and the holocaust breaks them. Not least for being anti-abuse.
I apologise. If he continued making such statements and on a variety of series, it would have been more apt to say it. I'm pretty hyper sensitive and suspicious on abuse series, seeing as it's been shown that people will tear out anything and everything to use as ammunition against the abuse or people who like it.
Still, we're all rather like that. On post #25967, finding it vomit inducing rather than cute isn't an abuse comment. But you don't want that. I'd agree with you that such comments still shouldn't be made, because they lead to shitstorming.
Finding something nauseating and deciding to say as much IS an anti-Abuse/FF statement. Compare:
"This has parallels with something that occurred in WW2" Which is essentially what S BENZ said. The worst thin he said is that it was distressing for him, otherwise he was just pointing out something obvious.
"I find this vomit inducing rather than cute, unfortunately." Moonfog stated that he was moved to physical illness by what appeared to be a FF at the time, and while the rules were not broken due to it's being part of an abuse short, it was an anti-FF statement in what we assumed to be one.
"This isn't funny, it makes me sick!" If that showed up anywhere in, say, between studies. you would have been all over the person to make the comment.
The point I'm trying to make her is that we, as the user base of OYP need to work to keep things equal and balanced, not tilted in the favor of one side.
I do agree with you, although the rules are constantly broken in favour of the FF side. I'm pretty active on abuse stories such as between studies, but not FF because it's guaranteed a lynch mob will come out for FF. Pretty much all of the major shitstorms have been started by people with a problem with abuse. Anyway, as I said, I apologise. It's a valid observation, and doesn't really mean anything by itself. If it kept on being repeated over several works, continuously comparing yukkuris treatment to the persecution of jews and whatever, then the suggestion would be quite obvious. I was too on edge here.
As far as I can tell, the abuse side is more likely to react with a shitstorm in response to a comment they don't like.
More over there seem to be some pretty tight rules on what the non-abusers are allowed to say even in family friendly images. Like flame posts in response to posts along the lines of "There should be more like this."
I didn't really consider my remark in that picture to be anti-FF, it was more a critical thing than anything else, as thought that if the pic was FF, it was completely ruined for me by cranking the moeblob up too high. I suppose I could have said it in a more subtle way, however.
Ah, sorry, I was just responding with that because he was using you as an example. To be honest, I found it more than a little over the top myself, but you didn't elaborate, so your comment was taken as it was.
Now then. The majority of the problems FF Trolls are from the outside and have no intention of actually sticking around, so it'd be for the best if you'd just ignore them or let poweryoga know that some moron from Danbooru or where ever has decided he's an internet tough guy. There's nothing we can say that will change their minds, as they are only here to get reactions. Actually, do that with anyone that starts up obvious trouble. Unless they are easily upset, then you're allowed (And completely justified) to mock then until they start crying.
Moeman i think that usuall ythe "there should be more like this" issue is more people being tired of the same line than anything.
You know like when someone goes "i wish this" all the time, to the point you go "Shut Up already! WE KNOW THAT!" It's clearly not against the rules, besides the rules are quite tight on abusers in general, since comments of really wishing torture, abuse, etc. on FF are not allowed and chastiziced, hell, now we have some cases with AIE on which there was an attemp to use "IF" alternate interpretations to force tag changes just because HE found the pics anger inducing, even if they aren't Kiriraita tier of "trolling with moeblob".
Anyway, Abuse side always react because in general they are the ones being attacked, so now the general abuse fandom tends to be more jumpy and defensive, but not without reasons since countless ammounts of trolling and forceful anti-abuse agendas had left them in a very defensive mindset. Family Friendly Fans hadn't really faced the same ammount of artillery than the Abuse fans have, outside of when they are trolling.
Like Tea mentioned once, it's not like there are mirror paralel of cases of abuse fans, insulting, being anti-ff or calling the FF fans "wimps and pathetic" as often as there are for anti abuse. So i realy can see how 100% abuse fans can eb jumpy an defensive. Not like i like that attitude though.
Yet in the end, it's not like the majority of the fandom is either 100% abuse or 100% ff.
I think the majority of the fandom is people who like both aspects of yukkuris in general, for their own reasons. And sometimes they feel bothered because they are dragged in this conflict or get tried of people doing the same questions, even if they aren't new guys, or getting all uppity because of the abuse or lack of it on magical talking manjuus.
Took the words right out of my mouth. And well... it is really quite tight on the abusers. We have people picking on abuse stories, dragging out things from them to try and defend them against abuse (and then mock or say the opinion of anyone who thinks the same features don't matter/are reasons to abuse are invalid), but there are no abusers going to family friendly, picking out features and using them to call for abuse (and if so, get roughed up for doing it). Same thing on strips such as where a family beg to be taken in or beg for forgiveness, you'll get people come along saying they shouldn't have been abused (when they get abused) and they'd have taken them in as pets because they're cute. Now, if an abuser went to a non-abuse image and said they'd abuse it (or even suggested it), all hell breaks loose. Bleh. I wasn't like this a year ago, but the make-up of this site has changed a lot in that time. Most of the people are quite moderate, and I think most of the abusers know that their views would make people upset. Which is why we don't have a mirror image of abuse fans attacking and mocking other people's views.
Long Made Short, enough with the jumpity and over defensive stunts and also let's avoid controversial analogies as well.
Though all this discussion at the end reminded me how Japan seems to still hadn't get the memo about how bad Nazis were or how bad their own concentration camps were >_> at least a great deal of japan seems to really don't know about it yet. . .
>>It'd be nice if people could just shut up and stop sperging about who does what to which side but that would require people not be derping.
The solution to that would be if people could actually keep the peace... and not go about attacking other people/material or breaking the rules. But that requires people not to be derping twice as hard. There wouldn't be any feelings to create these discussion if that were the case. Still, they'll probably go on as long as it continues happens. We're not just going to take it sitting down, you know? I know it'd be the same for the other side. At least we're now having these monthly discussions instead of assaults on each other and the stories, though. Derp derpy?
@Matt: It's very much appreciated. Really, I mean it when I say it.
