He meant diabetes as real diabetes, since eating so much sweet and sugar would probalby give you diabetes. Which would make the premise of using yukkuris to solve world hunger to be problematic and counter productive.
But yeah that's the thing of ayazou, either he does them cute in the right way or does them in suc ha way that when they start making trademark yukkuri exagerate whailing faces you start wanting want to do nasty things to them.
You know, given that people seem to eat yukkuris by the bucket loads and not have any ill effects, I've always taken it that their magic abilities include some sort of anti-diabetes or magical sweetness. That's my thoughts on it though.
