Actually, I'd call it the difference between pet and stray/wild yukkuri reasoning.
Pet yukkuri are fed regularly by their owner, and therefore they don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and so instead appreciates the beauty of the flowers.
Stray/Wild yukkuri have no guarantee that they'll be able to find food anytime after this, so they'll readily eat their fill, and possibly even store some for later.
It's the same with most any pet animal too, Cats are a prime example. A pet cat knows it will be fed enough food, so it doesn't feel the need to eat the mouse it caught, and instead plays with it. A stray/wild cat would kill the mouse immediately, and either eat it right away, or carry it to a place it feels safe before eating it.
So, the yukkuris behavior here isn't 'Wrong' at all, but they certainly go about it in an annoying fashion.
Before anyone calls Anti-abuse, or something similar, I'll point out that we wipe out bugs and other vermin simply for annoying us, so its easy to see a mass yukkuri extermination happening if the yukkuri manage to annoy enough people.
(and yes, I guess I am in lecture mode right now or something. XP)
Well some may say that a bothersome attitude and way to do things in a yukkuri is a hint of being trash, since many times yukkuri do the same thing without being an eyesore and plainly disgusting like in this pic, yeah even collecting food, maybe part of being a non trash yukkuri is being more collected and calm unless they trully need to be passionate for something?
