I would like to see a Yukkuri Fortress kind of game. A sort of Dwarf Fortress where yukkuri desperately try to keep their group alive from all threats, even within. With Jack Nicholson himself as the narrator.

Kinda reminds me of that short story I did on which yu's somehow were able to have a fortress with a lava flood system and everything...only for the lava to not flood the outside to "burn the uneasy" and just flood the whole innards of the fortress killing all yu's, to the point that even dwarves that witnessed such event were flabbergasted at being outclassed in their game (the game of killing themselves in over the top ways through failed systems or tantrums.)

I've been messing with a yukkuri TC of dwarf fortress for a while that replaces everything in the game with yukkuri stuff and changes the fundemental gameplay...
I've modelled yukkuris pretty well, I think. Relative to a dwarf, they're much weaker. They have no skulls and they have a 1-part body with a paste core organ inside that's tagged as [thought], so any blow they take has a chance to damage the paste core and kill them. However, they produce 1-10 children per breeding event and their children reach adulthood within a year. So unlike normal DF, you WANT to keep your breeding couples nice and safe so they can replace your population quickly. Yukkuris turn into a 'sweet-sweet' upon death, which can be eaten by other yukkuris to generate a very happy thought. They also don't turn into ghosts, so you don't have to manage burials for all your many deaths (that would be tedious).
The problem is that the DF engine won't let you control a fort with more than one race and won't let you define castes within that race that only breed with certain castes, so until the engine is updated for that, any yukkuri type can give birth to any other yukkuri type. Yukkuri types have different bonuses. For instance, Reimus produce 6-15 children per brood, Marisas get +5 mining, Chens move 25% faster, Patchoulis learn skills 100% faster, Alices get +5 to crafting skills, etc. I've yet to model in some of the rarer breeds, and eventually I want to add in things like low percentage chance for yukkuris to be born as bodied or turn into dosus.
Right now though I'm slowly converting all the wildlife and other units into yukkuri-appropiate creatures like insects and small animals. I also want to turn all the megabeasts into Abyusers and things like Mister Bear.
