Please don't regard one artist's ideas as universal. Just take a look at shell Marisa- if you went by the older artist's interpretation then shell Marisa would be hated, not given special care.
My guess is because they saw its hat being taken away, they're panicking because they are fraid that the same will happen to them. Once they fall asleep or something, they'll wake up and see "HEY HATLESS YUKKURISLOL" and do their normal thing.
I noticed everything, but you didn't understand my point. In Shell Marisa no one turned on the strange Marisa, no matter how much time passed. Only the other child turned hostile due to the lack of attention. Yukkuris act differently according to artist, so don't lump them together.
It's true, no one interpretation of Yukkuris is true, and often the same type of yukkuri can range from homicidal maniac to arrogant and greedy all the way to willing to give up one's own life so their child could take it easy.
You have to keep in mind though that when the Yukkuri as a species were given birth and formed, one of this fact that was given was that under normal circumstances, Yukkuri will be intollerant of other Yukkuri who do not have their accessory. It's therefore rather likely that in many or even all artist depictions where the Marisa is unable to get her hat back, the other yukkuri will grow angry or scared of the Marisa enough that they attempt to kill her.
>if you went by the older artist's interpretation then shell Marisa would be hated Which "older" interpretation? By the very old one she would be mostly fine, but hate, fear and anger would grow over time culminating in violence. Hey, aren't hate, fear and anger growing in that story?
>In Shell Marisa no one turned on the strange Marisa. Well, she has her shell, doesn't she? It could register as the accessory, so it doesn't invalidate the "instant kill the accessory-less yukkuri" theory.
Perhaps the trash Reimu wearing some fast food trash as replacement ribbon would be a better argument.
What are you arguing anyways? That there are no standards for the yukkuri and I'm not allowed to expect anything? That until the artist of the particular work comes out and states "This yukkuri is filled with bean paste." I'm not allowed to assume it is?

The one where the anon takes a Marisa's hat away and the whole herd instantly rejects her.
"Well, she has her shell, doesn't she? It could register as the accessory, so it doesn't invalidate the "instant kill the accessory-less yukkuri" theory. "
There are also pictures where deformed yukkuris are killed at birth. A shell counts as a deformity.

If being on this site has taught you anything, it's that each artist has a unique interpretation on things. In one comic the yukkuris instantly, without hesitation, rejected and brutalized the hatless Marisa. In another a Marisa with a strange hat was given special care. In yet another interpretation there was a time limit. Here Marisa is getting help getting her hat back, so you should not automatically assume any theory holds water here. These facts and theories is what kills creativity.
