Isn't it a problem in Japan of people beating up homeless? God knows how many anime have it and I hear a lot about it in passing when my friends talk about it.
"If this guy wasn't robbing yukkuris he would rob a person instead, so I'd say some fictional JUSTICE is in order."
Now that's some nonsense and you know it. Any violence done to yukkuris is strictly on a yukkuri-only basis. Otherwise, all anons here would torture people if yukkuris weren't around.
In other words, he's not robbing them because he's a thief; it's just another way of torturing yukkuris.
Well maybe he wanted the money and since they were yukkuri he thought that. 1) AOK since they are manjuus and there are 90% of probability of them not accomplishing anything with money. 2) Easier to steal than humans by a loooooong shot. 3) 90% probability of nobody giving a damn about manjuus being stole.
Not like i'm justifying him or anything, but we gotta be realistic here, Yukkuris with money = fail, usually it only gets them killed, and of all the comics on which they had money, i only saw once on which they could "properly" buy something, and it didn't last much since 1) The Mother mistook the capacity of the money as some power to conquer anythign 2) Another goon assaulted them in a similar fashion tahn this guy.
All this because yukkuris don't know how to count beyond 3, remember 3 > MANY in their count system, so, they are clearly uncompatible with monetary systems, at least, the average yukkuri. I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the time they get stole easily or the store clerks either rip them off, or plainly not accept them AND take their money with some "you manjuus don't need this" speech.
Actually, i wonder how nobody made a comic about a scene like that? Yukkuris trying to buy, not only failing to determinate the worth of what they want to buy, but also getting robbed from the money and kicked out, i think the closest thing was Yun-Doughnut, and it was mainly the marisa paying with 500 yens a box of doughnuts that clearly worth more...
I like to think he lost his hand after getting bit by the marisa and having the likely result of getting a nasty infection since those teeth got lodged in, and as a street yukkuri, its likely got diseases.
I like to think that after he lost his hand he got it replaced by a cybernetic mechanical arm ala Darth Vader and went on to crush many yukkuris with his powerful hand of steel.
Yet the majority get them threated and all, besides, we aren't talking of wild yukkuris, but stray ones, which probably have even lesser diseases since their enviroments are reduced, for example, the main possible source of disease in a city, sewers, is a death trap for them. Junkyards and similar facilities probably kill them in spot and living in alleys with trash and all, won't give them the kind of infection that would amputate a human hand in a very short term.
It won't happen anelaidlives, again Happy Endings and "Happy Endings" accept and go on living.
And considering their teeths are made of sugar, we have to consider something, if they had the capacity of having diseases, the would had probably rot and not be whole time ago, since sugar isn't as though as normal teeths and we know how those can rot away easily, so imagine how far more easily sugar teeths would rot, and since the teeths we saw were whole and quite clean looking, it's hard to imagine them having some disease or serious nosive substance on them.

my dad who is a doctor told me getting a disease is unlikely, but an infection is way more possible, diseases shared in between species (we were talking about cats) is not very common
