I don't know, I would take it as entirely serious. If it can keep its weight on the plank just long enough to get it in its mouth, it could drag it back and get its hat back. Alternatively, it could simply disregard the value of its hat. Also alternatively, it could flip the board and hat over as it got off, then hop into the hat when it hit the water. So I definitely think it has options.
Uhhh... without a stories/artist explanations, thats going to be REALLY hard to pool. Heck this picture probably doesn't deserve to be in the pool.
(Without artist explanation) The Marisa's weight holding up the plank. If she moves off it, the plank and the hat falls into the water, making it unrecoverable. If she moves up the plank, the plank flips over and into the water, she drowns/melts. If she doesn't move, she dies of starvation and still doesn't get the hat.

If that's the case then every entry tagged as "home invasion" must be there because IF they had thought about it, they might still be alive. IF they had noticed the difference in strenght, they might still have little ones. IF IF IF IF
It's kinda hard to tell, so many factors, hell, even if she got a eureka moment and stretched, one have to wonder if that won't distribute her weight in a way that wouldn't hold the plank anymore and make her fall on the water alongside the hat and the plank.
That's why i wonder if it's really fair for the "plank trap" the only satisfactory way to survive withotu doubt is to abandon the hat, or somehow have a longer tongue. Then there are the stretching or slow sliding solutions that depends of many factors like to call "100% safe solution".

A home invasion is not a deliberate and elaborate trap set up by Anon. There is a difference between yukkuris making an understandably dumb decision to break into someone's home and Anon putting yukkuris into a situation where they have a fair chance to survive.
"Fair" does not mean they can easily get out. It means that, with some effort and hardship, they have a chance of making it. Looking at this picture, the yukkuri does have a reasonable chance to retrieve her hat. If it moves its base a bit closer and leans out a bit more it can grab the hat. This is not an unfair challenge because in such a challenge the odds would be stacked against the yukkuri from the beginning.
Maybe the constant dosis of fail from the yukkuris had made me develop the idea that a "fair" challenge for a yukkuri is one that A) No Death possible B) even more easy modo than Very Easy Modo on a educational game.
Kinda funny expectations about yukkuris goes up and down constantly, i don't know how to explain it. . .

Here's a problem why "Fair Trap" is erroneous: Most death trap situations are in actuality escapable (the definition of a "fair trap"), but in almost all cases the yukkuri would still fail anyway due to their nature, whether it may be arrogance, intolerance, or just plain stupidity. See the desperate_struggle tag, for instance.
