Well the skin is there, all one would need to do is to check the Minecraft mod community and look for ways to "insert" stuff in the minecraft world, mind you, you can, i had seen some stuff like fucking Sentry Guns made of rocks, arrows and a stick.
It would need a lot of research but it may be possible to make something close enough to a yukkuri mob, hell, maybe modifying the "multiplying" factor of the slime to have some variable that isn't "being hit" would emulate yukkuri reproduction.
I'm not even sure if it's a good engine for yukkuri - the blocky look, no way to hold them or kick them around, etc. But imagine returning from a long cave spelunking trip and discovering a family of Reimu and Marisa that made your wheat field their easy place...
Well that's another downside, not much opportunity for a yukkuri to do a real anger-inducing mess when everything's made from wood or stone.
Yeah, there's already a mod for human npcs that build towns, build mines, chop down trees, have kids that grow up to make more npcs, can buy and sell items, fight mobs and talk to you.
Making an actual yukkuri mod with actual yukkuri behavior is completely possible. It's just a question of whether or not anyone with the skill to do so would bother with making a yukkuri mod.
Although it would be really annoying after awhile to see yukkuri purposely stomping around on your farm crops or in your house breaking your bookcases and pictures, leaving piles of crap everywhere in your house/farm then insulting you.
Right, it's not enough to make the yukkuris annoying, yukkuris are best when they talk/show feelings: yu-ing from happiness, crying and complaining, insulting you, and of course suffering.
I'd imagine the existing Minecraft NPCs are not very expressive in that regard, and rather focus on interacting with the world.

Mods can do that. I'd imagine it wouldn't be that hard. Time consuming, but not that hard.
Have them make suffering sounds when hit, say happiness when eating/stealing food, cry/complain when the food/farm is gone after eating it all or being near piles of shit and insult the player if the player is close enough to them.
Current npc mods already make npcs react/talk/respond in if-then situations like that.
Hell, yukkuris already are basically nothing but if-then responses. "It's like flying in the sky", "happiness", "refreshed", "take it easy", "munch-munch". If you think about it, it's like they're not even intelligent creatures, but more like mobile plants full of if-then statements. Like an organic furby or virtual pet.

Good point.
I wanted to say there has been a lot of creative stuff built on that later, but then again... a great part of it is also quite simple.
Yukkuri attacking unrecognizable or accessory-less ones. Home invasions and trash yukkuris insulting humans even when they should really know better. The predator types. The raper types. Puffing up. "Please eat up". Child protection.
A LOT of yu-behavior looks like it could be programmed as simple responses. Not all, of course, many great stories depend on yukkuri doing actually something complex (even if it's beyond idiotic for a human). And I'm certain things won't look so rosy once you actually get down to specifics. But still...
I guess that's what makes the prospect of computer yus so fascinating to me. It actually seems within a determined programmer's reach to make these creatures... real.
