One Yukkuri Place

Activity Check: What Happened To The Fans?

Posted under General

I'm new to the site as far as accounts, but I've been keeping an eye on the yukkuri community for a while...or at least, I've tried to. The harder I look for active areas and places where an actual fandom exist, the more I become aware of how little of a fandom yukkuri actually have. After about 2008-2009, activity everywhere ground to a crawl - comic series quit updating, story groups solidified, pieces of work went cold and never got completed. Everywhere yukkuri have a dominant presence before seems to have quietly died on a large scale, and I'm very confused. I'm beginning to get frustrated as I scour the internet for somewhere active, and while people still visit here, it's obviously not the place it used to be. So many people are gone now. This does happen naturally over time, but it's like a chunk of the planet where all the active big-time yukkur fans lived suddenly dislodged itself from the rest of earth and drifted into the sun or something.

I won't say I've done massive extensive research but I have looked around and it's both concerning and perplexing. If someone has an explanation for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

This place updates daily. Given, it's basically a nexus of all things yukkuri, but it still sees quite a bit of activity for one meme.

Welcome to OYP. Enjoy your stay.

Shame you came here at a time when everyone else who have lives is off enjoying their vacation.

Give it a few more days, they'll be back. Unfortunately.

Go on OYP main page, you'll see a number.
The bottom line says XXXXX posts, but once an old user told me that "posts" it's an acronym.
It means "People's Own Souls Traumatically Sewered" or something like that, don't remember well...

That's because once you enter in OYP for the first time a countdown starts and at the end of it a demon will appear, but what happens next I don't know.
That old user apparently logged out before unveiling the truth and I never met him again.

It's not a cohincidence that the oldest people here around are guys like SUN, don't you think?

Now contribute easy to feed this cruel, ever-hungry and malevolent god that is OYP.

Well, it's holiday times. I know for one I'm playing a lot of holiday games, trying to clear out my backlog.

That and yukkuris are pretty old news in general, a meme always wear off after a certain time. I think we're heading onto year 3 or 4 here?

This is certainly the most active english site though, and japan's yukkuri thread still sees activity and discussion on a daily basis. You'll also still see a jissou thread there.

That and people's lives move on. Sometimes things happen and artists lose interest. We still get new artists but only once in a rare while.

The Yukkuri fad will last as long as the Touhou fad still goes strong. The initial craze of the first years was something expected, but as long as Touhou is still popular, we will have Yukkuri stories to go. We have gotten great new blood this year with chucchuaki, muchimuchiaki and others, and as far as I know only yohakuaki has decided to step down, while other artists still make regular appeareances. If i am not forgetting, Kiri had a 4 month break, and meilingaki and lovelyperon are still missing but i have faith that they will come back! Lets take it easy too in 2012!

Haven't seen anything by rorinko in a while but then again I'm hilariously out of touch most the time.

Also if you're worried about fresh content dwindling to a trickle, go ahead and add your own to the pile. I kind of feel like eveyrone's waiting for someone else to put something up.

Ah, I see how it is. Also I had a suspicion OYP ate souls but I wasn't sure. Guess I know now.

Well, I think it's pretty active for a meme anyway so I'm not complaining. Content elsewhere seems to be pretty low though. Don't know about the wiki, but I haven't seen a fresh yukkuri fanfic in ages. That one google group had some freakin' good ones.

Hoping maybe I can get in good contact with one or a few of the artists here. A lot of them look really talented for art and story writing.

I refuse to release a work I'm not satisfied with. :)

The wise Yukiyuzen is the sage of the forest!
He knows, he knows the right answer!

Make me lose my job or puff-puff more, oh uneasy one.

not too many fanfics on the groups right now, we spiked in activity for a while but i think people either hit writer's blocks or moved on to other things. I'm still working on a new fic but haven't had too much time to work on it lately, holiday seasons and all.

Please tell me you want to make a yukkuri anime or something like that.

Also if you want more action going on at the fanfic group, get on there and make posts. About stories, about yukkuris (been a while since we've had a yukkuri biology thread), about something. Gets people posting.

Updated

Uh... well... yeah, I did have a bit of WB on one of my stories, admittedly. I do kinda miss the action on the Yukkuri fanfic group, though hell, it's not like I've been contributing much... Although I did just post something there, if anyone gives a crap.

When yukkuris came out my Korean friend was a free man. He has now been in prison for 3 years.

This is like centuries in Internet time.

Internet activity can be short lived, 3 years is a lot of time for some users, and is enough time for them to lose interest or move to other things.

My free time is at a premium as of late, so I don't have the time to crank out a chapter of story every week like I did in the past. I'm steadily updating the new series though, but it's going to be about 2-4 weeks inbetween each... depending on how much time I'm spending playing through the christmas games I bought. :p
