I could take the abuse if people like Noraaki didn't insist on making yukkuri so humanlike.
Suddenly when yukkuri turn into creatures with anxiety and family problems and formal education, seeing them get abused at the end of the story is just unsettling. A far cry from the selfish moeblobs that are so conductive to a good stomping.
I like to take it on a case-by-case basis. Not all yukkuri are equal in my eyes, simply because each author has their own version to put forth. I rarely feel myself disagreeing over how a yukkuri is portrayed on either end of the spectrum. Sure, I can get upset at what actually happens to them (lousy karma houdinis), but I wouldn't feel indignant over how the yukkuri themselves are portrayed.
I'm capable of feeling either compassion or rage as the situation demands. I'd like to think that's pretty typical, though.
