Okay, I know they make for excellent eatin', but whoever decided to make Reimus that grow that many babies at once should be taken out back and shot. If any of those little brats make it into the wild, it won't be long until we're all drowning in a sea of easy. And either starving and/or diabetic.
Actually, these could just be modified special-use factory breeds; there's no way these could survive in the wild, as they wouldn't be able to find nearly enough food to support so many stalks, pods and koyukkuris...
Also, if they are special breed stalks, then they probably won't survive because they're so SMALL. They're as small as a man's fingernail at the biggest.
You know how when you see pics of koyukkuri after being raped, and they still have their own stalks, which have their own itty-bitty BB-sized koyukkuri on them? These are probably only a little bigger than that.
I have a feeling that these koyukkuri, small as they are, wouldn't survive even with a whole clan looking after them. Their volume to mass is too small. Their bean paste cores would be too small (though the fact that these koyukkuri can talk and supposedly be grown enough to sort of shoots a hole in that theory). They'd be incredibly small retards, is what I'm saying.
On the other hand, those kos seem to be absurdly resilient. Not many yukkuris could survive being cooked like that, even at the limited functionality they show post-cooking. It's unclear if this durability extends to things like squashing or poisoning, but if it does... viable wild yukkuris of this type would be disastrous. We'd seriously be talking about something on the level of cockroaches here as far as reproductive rate and difficulty to kill.
I'm not usually one to advocate harm to yukkuris... but seriously, kill all of these. Now. If they ever managed to function in the wild it'd be a disaster for people, animals, and other yukkuris... especially if they started showing up in more dangerous forms than Reimu. An Utsuho that reproduced at this rate and was less prone to exploding at the slightest provocation could irridiate the world in no time flat.
Yukkuris already were on the same level of cockroaches. They don't seem any more resilient than most, as there's a lot of other cooking images here where the yukkuris remain just alive and uttering garbage/nonsense sounds. They're just as good as dead.
@Toawa If these are engineered Reimus from the Factory, then yes, they'd probably be bred to have long pod-stalks which need to be supported. By human action.
@Nezumi As with the above, these are probably engineered Yukkuris that, even if they escaped, would probably not be able to reproduce on their own (hopefully), or have mechanisms that make it impossible. Take my theory on too-small-brains in the koyukkuris, the fact that Toawa said that the stalk needs to be supported to stay on (hence no yukkuris which have escaped can do that), etc.
