And no, even the "Aquatic Marisa" aren't really Aquatic, they just are able to float on their hats for long, but they still can melt if they fall into the water.
I'd always thought that pet yukkuris would have been bred to be a bit more tough to avoid accidents, as we all know how fragile even the wild ones are.

Someone who spends most of his life in the woods is no doubt tougher than someone who spends most of his life in a city.

Usually anyway
As you said, that's usually the idea, but with yukkuris that may not be exactly the case, specially if we consider that many pet yukkuris outclass their wild peers when their training is good.
I think if anything, the wild ones only get a rougher and less smooth skin, not necessarily stroner and more resilent, just rugged.
Considering that a gold badged yukkuri can cost around £2k, you'd actually want it to be fairly durable, and not explode when you accidentally kick it.

Well, _some_ of us would want it to be fairly durable, but humans are funny--sometimes we'll pursue the fragile and the useless and the illogical just because we find it attractive or consider it a status symbol.
Pedigree "show" dogs and cats come to mind--their physical features are judged against breed standards that are based on human aesthetics*, and in some cases, the ideal standards have actually been linked to health problems for the animals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulldog#Health
@Platina Again, while that's usually the case in animals, this are yukkuris, yukkuris don't have such biological standars or development, they don't necesarilly toughen up more than a pet for living in the wild, sometimes they can live as lazily as a pet, just with less "goodies" and having to look for their own food, Meanwhile the Pet may had been actually trained to be beyond a simple "cute mascot" nad have a degree of skills that no wild yukkuri have.
We have to remember than in general, yukkuri's "Take it Easy" may lead them to go for the "non hardworking and lazy" way, even in the wild, and as we know, hardwork is what usually toughens up in the wild. But yukkuris as "easy seeking" creatures won't be as prone as hardwork as other animals, hell the pets seems to work harder out of the human standars playing a role on it.
I think with yukkuris we may have a reversal of what usually happens with animal pets, just not sacrificing cuteness.

good to see someone who knows real money =P
but yeah I would presume that by breeding or something ( I'd imagine yukkuris to develop quickly due to their usually short lifespan ) that they gain a resistance to stuff like twigs on a forrest floor without ripping their skin and waterproof enough to take like half a minute or so of rain ... but nowhere by any means invincible to rain or impact if you get what I'm saying.
And no, even the "Aquatic Marisa" aren't really Aquatic, they just are able to float on their hats for long, but they still can melt if they fall into the water.
Hold on, lemme pull out my Official Yukkuri Canon Rulebook™

No Time for that! let's use the handbook instead *looks for it* oh wait this is the Saiyan Handbook, goddamit i probably left it at home, oh well, maybe for the next time =º.
We'll have to do with the works that show only Nitoris and Murasas being waterproof, the rest, incluiding the Water Floating Marisas being weak to water.
Now i wonder if Yukkuris instead of being "Grass" they are "Ground" >_> . . .
*reading the Saiyan Handbook anyway*
Funny, here says that if you throw a Teruyo or a Reisen high in the sky and make a saiyan watch it, it works as well as the fake moons or the real moons to make Saiyans with tails go Ozaru.
