A guardian yukkuri. Tends to have a spicy filling. Has a tendency to fall asleep while trying to guard something. Sometimes portrayed as only being able to say "JAOOOOOOOOOOOOO". Portrayed having her namesake's hat as her accessory.
Their inability to say anything but JAOOOOOO often causes them to get hated by other yukkuris as they can't respond to greetings. Stray meilings tend to be bullied or killed by other yukkuris as they deem her to be uneasy. Conversely however Meilings are one of the types of yukkuri more favored to be pets by humans due to lacking the vulgar speech that causes many humans to dislike yukkuri
Their spicy filling means they can't get eaten by predator yukkuris and in fact they're often shown having a good relationship with flandres.
They tend to love eating spicy food as opposed to sweets like other yukkuris. This often leads to a scenario where a pet meiling feeds on spicy food, some strays see her and deem her uneasy (because they only say JAO) and steals her food, and then said strays die because they can't tolerate spicy food.
