One Yukkuri Place

The All-Purpose Yukkuri Game Thread

Posted under General

You would have to use eclipse, for some reason its not compiling into jar form correctly at the moment, if you want to test this preview please add all files and images into a project, and then run the project from inside Eclipse, it should start properly, but please keep in mind this is not an actual release.

As for the bugs with items, I introduced them by messing up a comma when I was fixing some misnamed stuff, rolled back the code a few revisions and its all good on my end.

I think actually compiling it as a jar would entail understanding the readme and .cmd's in Files, which I don't, so if anyone can figure those out, be my guest.

It feels like baby remis are BORN TO MOLD, running at max speed it usually takes less than 30s for them to spread mold EVERYWHERE (I had a barrier making two areas, both got molded after a bunch of baby remis showed up)

Truly they bring death to yukkuris but this isn't what I was hoping for

Hmm... mold shouldn't be affecting different types differently, I think it might have to do with reimus rub-rubbing a lot, and having alot of children that they can't care for. Rub rub bypasses the damage requirement for mold spread (though i have to check, im starting to think i might have accidentally rolled back the changes to mold when I had that glitch last week)

EDIT: Yup, i accidentally removed the changes, I readded them and a reimu/marisa pair was fine for at least 8 minutes on max, left with an autofeeder and toilet and with periodic poop cleanings.

Side effect of the bed addition is that they dont do birth on toilet anymore

Updated

Yeah birth is a little chaotic. I avoid using beds since they cause discord upon the introduction of a barrier.

Hmm? What issue are you having between beds and barriers? In my test, if you put two beds, one on each side of a barrier, with a yukkuri nearest the one on the opposite side, it will move into the barrier, the timer for barrier collision will execute properly, adn then it will walk away from the barrier and into range of the second bed, which it will then lock onto and use.

The major priority bug is still there, but i dont see any unusual operation between beds and barriers.
Also, im going to reintroduce the desire for yukkuris to give birth on a toilet until the beds are fixed.

EDIT: Yukkuris no longer poop in bed, and will instead seek out the nearest toilet at about 80% readiness.

EDit
Magnetic beds fixed.

EditEditEdit
Lots of behavior changes where beds are concerned, current logic is as such

if ( ( b.isSleepy() || b.isBaby() || b.isPeroPero() || b.isExciting() || b.isFeelPain() || b.motherhood || b.isDamaged() || b.isBirth() ) && ( !b.isSick() || b.isBaby() ) && !b.wantToShit() || b.hasBaby )
{
movetobed (basically)
}

Ok, here's the book sprite. Is not WONDERFUL, but it's something. From Monday on I'll have more free time, so I might fix more things then.

There's four images here, a closed book and an open book for each side (left, right). I though it would be a nice idea to have a sprite of an open book show up when Patchy begins interacting with the toy and a sprite of it closed for when she stops.

Neat!
Guess I'll have to get to work on implementing it then. welp

One thing we could definitely use is a new bed sprite, with a res of about 250 x 160, I had to blow up the existing one in order to have birthing work properly (adult yu's are big and have a tendency ot poop the babies right of the edge even if they sit in the middle -_-) And the current sprite is really, really bad at that size. It was also stolen from the other game.... so theres that too >.>

Well, there goes my freetime to learn Night of Knights -_-"

Updated

The problem I had was that I would introduce just one bed, on one side of the barrier.

The other side would start complaining about the wall forever.

So they were better off without beds.

Don't bother with that version, its very outdated and doesn't really have any worthwhile additions, it was just a quick test for the bugs with beds, which have already been fixed.

Updated

Great work in such a short period of time! There are a few issues, one is that they confuse beds with toilets and use both beds and toilets as both. Also, I tried putting in remilias with the other types and they don't eat them or interact with them in any way, not sure if that just hasn't been implemented yet.

Thats an old version, these issues were fixed already

However, I never had any issue with remilia or patchy not interacting, nor do i have it now.

Logic for beds was completely changed recently, but havent been released yet.

Anon, if you're around, could you tell me how to get this compile correctly so I release updated versions once in awhile?

EDIT: yukkuri no longer poop on bed (except occasionally babies) Baby yukkuri no longer leave the bed/nest except to get food or poop, same with the mother yukkuri, this dramatically decreases the problem with mold, since the mother is now always around to care for the baby, and it seems alot more realistic to me.

Updated

I used these two commands in the 'cantreadcode' folder:

javac SimYukkuri.java
jar cfe SimYukkuri.jar SimYukkuri *.class images

thanks.

Somehow, reimus still bring death to their families, no matter what i change with mold, reimu has a tendency to fly off the bed and go splat, or receive enough damage that incubation kicks in for mold >.>

TLDR; Reimus are shitty moms. Like projectile shitty.

EDIT: Meh, even with all the conflicting characters removed and everything encoded properly, the game still doesnt execute correctly, it hangs when at the point right before the first dialog asking for you to pick some yukkuri should pop up.

Mold issue is entirely caused by projectile birth issue -_-... I tested multiple times, and if the babies weren't damaged on impact, they wouldnt have developed mold. So the key to fixing this, is to fix birth.

EDITS INTENSIFY
Birth is fine, the issue is the result of the hitbox for beds being smaller than the actual sprite...

Fixed that (kind of)

Reimu still brings death upon everyone, but no one else does, dafuq?

Updated

Reimu killing everyone isn't abug, it's a feature xD

As for the bed sprite, you peeps are gonna have to wait until saturday. Mister serigraphy can't take it easy. The silver lining is that you can add more sprites to the queue if you want. I'll have tons of free time then.

Edit: Bug report. I think it would be convenient to check the yukkurium boundaries. Yukkuris are walking up the upper wall, getting half their manjuu asses clipped beyond the border. I was also wondering about remaking the sprites so that the whole thing doesn't take up so much space. As of now, is very difficult to have more than 10 yukkuris without going 1080p fullscreen. Maybe changing the sprites to a scalable version or something? Just a thought.

Updated

Seriously, reimu is worst mom jp. Anyway, I'm actually going back to uni starting on monday, so my freetime is probably going to die easy. My main goal atm is to figure out how the hybridization system works, and start introducing hybrids so we get more visual diversity from pairings. Atm I have sprites for alice-marisa, alice-reimu, marisa-alice, marisa-wasareimu, marisa-reimu.
Then I need to add unique dialogue for remilia, well, more of it anyway. I want to spellcheck patchy's dialogue because I saw some odd stuff.
I also really want to start adding more realistic nests based on family groups, but thats a long term goal.

Actually, the main sprites I could use right now are,
Exciting and refreshed faces for Remilia
Crushed and Crushed2 (no accessory) sprites for Remilia

For the future, I'd like to stick in Jaooo'n!

EDIT:
What kind of odds do you guys want for hybrids, previously, the game generated a random value between 0 (inclusive) and 50 (exclusive) and only generated a hybrid type if the generated number was exactly 0, setting the odds at 1/50.

Personally, I never saw a single hybrid in normal play without specifically farming for them, so I'd like to see somewhere around 1/15 or so, because remember, this check is only even activated when appropriate parents mate and only once for each child, so dont be misled by the numbers too much.

Am I missing it completely, or is there no option to pet them?

(Not that it isn't an awesome game just as it is!)
